XpoNorth, HIE’s specialist support mechanism for creative industries, is including storytelling as a theme for its annual conference this year.
The digital event takes place on June 15 and 16 and follows National Share a Story Month in May, which focuses on ‘belonging’.
The event will celebrate of the power of narratives to preserve heritage, connect cultures, exchange ideas and boost economies.
Delegates will be offered a diverse range of free events linked around storytelling, including author appearances, panel talks and workshops with award winning poets, authors and literary agents.
These sessions will offer insights into the publishing world, inspire cross sectorial collaboration, and offer solutions on how to create more diverse and inclusive narratives.
After two very successful years as a digital event, the XpoNorth conference returns as a highly interactive online experience via the Socio platform. Delegates will be offered enhanced opportunities through seminar content, dedicated 1-2-1 sessions, networking opportunities and digital trade spaces.
Iain Hamilton, HIE’s head of creative industries and co-founder of XpoNorth, said:
“We share the same passion as National Share a Story Month in highlighting the power that storytelling has to shape cultures, inspire collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging.
“This belonging theme rings true to us as over recent years, XpoNorth has truly developed into a unique cross-sectoral event where businesses with complementary skills and knowledge can come together to share ideas and opportunities.
“This year’s conference has a specific focus on storytelling and place, which will offer refreshing opportunities to explore the power and variety of the Highlands and Islands creative economy. At the same time, it will emphasise the global provenance of the region and how it speaks to the international marketplace.”
