International tenant for new ‘Moorings’ at Malin House

Well-established Norwegian company PatoGen’s focuses on the provision of fish health services to the aquaculture industry.  

With so much attention on the health of the oceans and farmed fish as a sustainable source of food, PatoGen has found the Moorings an ideal facility close to many other activities in Scotland’s growing aquaculture sector.

The ‘Moorings’ has been developed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in Malin House, to give marine related businesses the opportunity to locate at the EMSP on a flexible, short-term basis.

Local PatoGen Key Account Manager Teresa Garzon said: “This is a great opportunity for PatoGen to get a foot-hold in this renowned location for marine expertise and to join the thriving cluster of innovative marine-based businesses working in Malin House.”

Morag Goodfellow of HIE said: “The workplace is changing as technology continues to offer increased mobility and flexibility. The Moorings will offer not only a modern work base, but also the chance to enjoy collaborating with other marine researchers and companies already on the site. What’s more, businesses tying up short-term at The Moorings will enjoy lower costs and less administration than having to set up and run an office base on their own.”

HIE commissioned workplace design and build specialist, Anchorpoint Interiors, to fit out the flexible work spaces in the Moorings. Michael Paterson, the firm’s director, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the office fit-out project for HIE in Oban. The flexible workspace will provide excellent opportunities for small and start-up businesses within the European Marine Science Park”
