Developing our products with a graduate placement

When we heard that, as part of the Northern Innovation Hub, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, were running the Technology Placement Programme, we thought it was a great opportunity to take on a graduate to help us develop the portfolio of products that we're able to offer to clients.

We took on Eilidh to help us develop our production processes for social media content like reels and short animations. That in turn has enabled us to offer a wider range of services to customers.

It's also important to say that it allowed us as a small company to experiment, we didn't have to be up to speed commercially from day one with any new ideas. Having that support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise gives us the breathing space to be able to try things, to experiment, to see what worked and what didn't, and if something worked particularly well, to develop that further.

I would absolutely recommend it to any company in the Highlands and Islands who are looking to develop new products or services and think that a graduate might be able to help them to do that.

Getting a fresh perspective

Having the fresh perspective of someone so recently graduated has been a great experience for the whole team. We've all gained from that and we've benefited from the fact that she is someone fresh out of university with a different take on what we do.

It challenges us and makes us think about how we do things.

From my perspective, I would absolutely recommend it to any company in the Highlands and Islands who are looking to develop new products or services and think that a graduate might be able to help them to do that.

It really is the perfect match for companies our size.

Eilidh was taken on in August 2022 for a 12-month placement in the role of Graduate Production Researcher and has been kept on at DP Digital post placement.
