Learning journey to Iceland Innovation Week 2025

What is it:

We are gathering Expression of Interests from businesses across the Highlands and Islands region to gauge interest in hosting a learning journey to Iceland Innovation Week 12th – 16th May 2025. The learning journey would be partially funded by HIE.

Iceland Innovation Week brings together start-up founders and investors from mainly the Nordics and North America. The event has six themes this year: Disruptive tech, Sustainability, Investors, Health, Gaming and Deep Tech and AI. 

The conference is held in the centre of Reykjavik, in addition to the mainstage event there will be side events throughout the week, key highlights include:

• Fermented Shark Tank where start-ups can pitch to investors
• Founders day – a day to meet other start-ups and learn about tools and insights to help you grow your business.
• Blue Open House at the Iceland Ocean Cluster (incl. delegation booth)
• Dip in the Atlantic Sea
• Ok, Bye Climate Summit – stage performance followed by talks and discussions on the theme “Science”.

Why join:

• Network with international founders and investors (mainly North America and Nordics).
• Learn about innovation in sustainability, health and tech.
• Links to local business clusters in ocean, circular economy and health, as well as bespoke site visits to be confirmed. 
• HIE will fund part of the journey and help create bespoke site visits and connections to other innovators.

Who can join:

The learning journey is open to businesses operating in the Highlands and Islands region. Places are limited and priority will be given to companies who demonstrate relevance to Iceland Innovation Week’s six themes. Maximum one person per business. 

Funding:

We will fund return flights from Scotland to Reykjavik, accommodation in Iceland and event attendance for one person per eligible business, terms and conditions apply. The learning journey will be funded by the Northern Innovation Hub and HIE’s Innovation Programme.
