RSS news feeds

HIE is now able to provide RSS feeds of its main news page, and e-business and Hi-Arts news.

If you, your company, news organisation or web site would like to tap into these feeds, please contact HIE's communications team, for further information.

As part of HIE website development, we plan to increasingly use RSS feeds from other relevant sites to provide this site with latest news headlines. Examples here include feeds from the BBC news and Scottish Government web sites.

So what is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) provides a convenient way to retrieve information from a variety of sources, including news stories and updates to a web site. Utilising RSS allows you to quickly and easily see whenever an update has occurred. Of course, viewing the RSS feed in Internet Explorer and refreshing every few minutes is not the most effective use of your time, so most people take advantage of some form of software to read and monitor RSS feeds. These small programs usually sit on your windows desktop, usually allowing a wealth of features which include constantly updated feed from the websites you have adopted feeds from.

There are many free RSS clients out there. Find links to some worthy examples on the blue bar to the right of this page.

To add the feed to your RSS reader, right click on the relevant icon (below) and copy the shortcut. You can then add it to your reader. There should be instructions on how to do this in your reader software's help section.
