During autumn/ winter 2008, Xero Energy was commissioned by HIE and Scottish Government to look at the grid issues associated with marine energy development in the Pentland Firth. The subsequent report summarises the issues and suggests measures required to connect wave and tidal devices across the region.Pentland Firth data collection study
In late 2008 Highlands and Islands Enterprise commissioned Orkney based consultants Aquatera to carry out a study involving the collection of data and information on data sources for the Pentland Firth region. This region includes the Pentland Firth and Orkney waters, as identified by The Crown Estate for the commercial development of wave and tidal energy. Community Energy Scotland
Community Energy Scotland supports community groups throughout the country to develop sustainable energy projects. It has taken over the role of the former Highlands and Islands Community Energy Company, set up by Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
