Training for Work

Who we can help?

If you are aged 25 or over and have been out of work for six months or more you may be eligible. If you are aged 18-24 and have a disability and are receiving benefits other than Jobseekers Allowance you may be eligible to join Training for Work.

What assistance is available?

The trainee will work to a training plan agreed with a registered training provider for a period averaging 26 weeks. You will receive normal benefits plus a £10 training allowance per week. The job centre will refer you to a local training provider who is then responsible for the delivery of the training programme.

The employer will have the benefits of training the individual to the standards required for your industry. Being an employer wishing to take on a trainee, you will liase with a training provider to identify one or more trainees for interview. We can provide information on a relevant training provider to meet your needs.
