Scottish e-business survey - 2005

The Scottish e-Business Survey (SEBS) was conducted by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise in partnership during June and July 2005. The aim of the survey was to provide an accurate picture of current adoption levels and likely future trends in e-business usage.

The survey captured information from more than 8,000 organisations of all sizes and types across Scotland (2,000 in the Highlands & Islands) on their attitudes to e-business and its importance to their operations, what technologies and e-business applications they own and how they are using them, and their sources of e-business advice and information.

This information is used not just by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Enterprise but by anyone with an interest in e-business in Scotland.

For example:

  • the software and e-business supply community looking for essential market information to identify new market opportunities;
  • business advisers informing clients of market trends;
  • organisations of all kinds comparing their e-business usage and plans against those of their customer, supplier and competitor groups; and
  • business support organisations, industry bodies and trade associations looking to support the improved competitiveness of their members.
