The potential for sales at home and abroad, coupled with the sheer spread of participants across the Highlands and Islands, makes the crafts sector an integral part of economic life in the region. This despite most enterprises being micro-businesses each employing under 10 people.

The diversity of products, combined with the growth in e-business, puts the crafts sector on course for further growth.

HIE continues to look, with other interested parties, at ways in which the craft sector might be developed.
