How to choose a Developer

The process of choosing a professional web developer is the same method as using any other type of contractor, in some ways it is far easier as you have access to a portfolio of their previous work. All good developers will have links to web sites that they have constructed on their own site. This will form a body of work that will allow you to make a judgement on their suitability for your own project.

After forming a short list of web developers (we suggest at least three) you would approach them to give an estimate to build your own site. A document laying out a plan for your site would be a useful tool to have written in advance of any discussion with the developers. This allows them to give an accurate quote and saves any arguments regarding 'misunderstandings' at a future date.
If you require any help in producing a brief for the developers then feel free to contact our e-Business Adviser, Paul O'Brien, who will help you to constuct an effective plan for your new site.
